School Food Trust – Chair

The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families invites applications for appointment as Chair of the Board of the School Food Trust (SFT).

The SFT is a Non-Departmental Public Body, registered charity and limited company, with a brief to improve the quality of food in schools and to get more pupils to eat school lunches.

Prue Leith, the current chair, is retiring in January 2010.The Secretary of State is looking to appoint a Chair who is committed to our ambitious aim of transforming school food, has a high profile in the food sector and is knowledgeable about food and education issues.

The post is for 36 days a year for two years, with the possibility of extension for a further one or two years. It is proposed that the post be remunerated at a level of £15,606 pa. This will require Charity Commission approval which is being sought.
