£150-180K base + excellent package

Our client is a global market leader in its specialist field and its international business, outside of the Americas, comprises 4,500 people in 26 markets. The business has grown by acquisition over many years and is a conglomerate of independent businesses.

The newly appointed CEO of the international business has a clear vision for the organisation: consolidation to leverage international clients, international standards, the sharing of best practice and economies of scale and to create a cohesive international business. One of his first priorities is to build a central team and the appointment of an HR Director is mission critical. This role sits as part of the main Executive Committee and reports to the President/CEO.

We are looking for an HR Director with board level experience who will:

• build an enabling HR function that demonstrably adds commercial value and supports a geographically and culturally diverse business from scratch and without building a central “empire”;

• act as confidant to the CEO, coach to the leadership team and inspiration to the HR community, all to facilitate the building of a better, stronger, more profitable business;

• establish a one culture business from the many that currently exist.

You must therefore have a sharp business mind, with the intellect to identify where HR can add commercial value, the ability to articulate a clear people vision, the bravery on occasion to fight for your ideas and convictions and a span of capability from big picture strategic to hands on operational detail. You have undoubtedly operated in the international arena and have the drive, energy, tenacity and resilience to establish consistent processes, programmes and codes of behaviour that will in turn drive better performance and greater profit.

To summarise, this is a leadership role, with enormous scope to define the functional role, working with a strong CEO with clear vision and with a range of employee that stretches from creative to manual. The business is private equity owned, so there is a frisson of risk offset by commercial opportunity.
