Nationwide opportunities

At EDF Energy, we generate power. Then we supply it to global businesses, airports, sports events, high profile projects – and 25% of the population. All this is merely a snapshot of what we’re involved with. And only hints at the scope of our work, and the potential for talented engineering graduates to add their own contribution.

The energy needs of the UK require a diverse mix if we’re to meet them in a sustainable way. So, we’re ploughing our experience, expertise and investment into addressing them. Promoting sustainability is also high on our agenda – whether that be for businesses or individuals, on the national stage or in the Houses of Parliament. It’s safe to say that our work stretches far, and very, very wide.

Our commitments

We’ve some ambitious plans. We’ve already integrated with British Energy. Now we’re launching one of the biggest environmental initiative packages in the UK. It goes some way to representing the unwavering commitment we have to the future of energy – as well as to our 8 million customers (which equates to 20 million people).

Of course, that commitment extends to our engineering graduates too. We have designed each of our graduate schemes for you to gain exposure across our business, and tailored them to meet your needs and ambitions. Training will prepare you to contribute significantly to the energy challenge, and a variety of placements will open the door for you to do so.

Nuclear Engineering

The energy industry has a huge responsibility to ensure a clean, safe energy future. Nuclear is part of the solution – and so are we. With British Energy on board we now operate eight nuclear power stations in the UK, so you’ll learn extensively from experienced nuclear professionals about operating and eventually decommissioning nuclear plants.

By 2025 we are aiming to build and operate four new nuclear reactors. Join our Nuclear Engineering scheme and you’ll be right there with us. The future of energy lies in nuclear power. Develop invaluable skills here, and it’ll secure your place within it.

Networks Engineering

Join our Networks Engineering scheme and your focus will primarily be on ensuring that every single one of our customers has the energy they need – in a way that takes us a significant step towards complete sustainability.

As one of the UK’s major electricity generators and the leader in nuclear power, you’ll have the weight of our experience behind you as you refine your own expertise on either of our bespoke engineering schemes.
