Bank of America and Merrill Lynch joined forces on 1 January 2009 creating an organisation that brings together two companies that complement each other in the investment banking, global markets, research, and wealth management businesses. The combined size, scale and global presence of the organisation give it the ability to deliver a wider breadth of world-class products and services to clients in more than 150 countries. In particular, this merger firmly establishes Bank of America as a leading global banking and wealth management franchise, and a premier corporate and investment banking and capital market business.

Global Markets Operations/Middle Office Group (GMO&MO) provides controlled and efficient pre and post-trade processes in support of our Capital Markets, Corporate Investments, Corporate Treasury, Global Wealth and Investment Management, and LaSalle Global Trust Services businesses. Core functions include post confirmation, settlement and client services processes as well as assurance over data and processes used to record risk, P/L, balance sheet and financial results. The organization is aligned to products and business management.

This unique program invites analysts to become expert at one or more of the functions that GMO&MO perform while being exposed to our organisation via cultural, product and process training. Analysts successful after the first year will be invited to strengthen their markets or process knowledge via selection of one of a number of industry recognised Industry Qualifications (IAQ, CIMA or CFA).

Secondments are structured to develop analysts into subject matter experts by product or function (i.e. Credit Products, Rates, Currencies and Commodities, Structured Products and Equity Financial Products) and key functional areas (i.e. Client Services, Risk and Position Validation, Trade Support). There will be opportunity for secondments to be selected or changed to match the interests and skills of Analysts provided the business can accommodate this.

In addition to developing cross-functional thinking and strong technical skills, analysts also receive on-the-job training, a defined learning curriculum, participate in bi-monthly speaker seminars, and attend events with analysts and associates from across Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Students graduating in 2010 as well as students who have graduated in 2009 are eligible to apply. Candidates  must have obtained or are realistically expecting to obtain a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent. You must be able to demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, strategic and creative thinking, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Analysts will be required prioritise, multi-task and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
