Operations Director

An integral part of one of the world’s leading defence, security and aerospace companies, our client has a proud heritage of innovation, state-of-the-art engineering and technical excellence in the field of advanced avionics – delivering novel, high-integrity products designed to enhance operational safety and mission effectiveness for a global client base.

The Company’s introduction of lean manufacturing techniques and a move towards platform-based solutions make this a challenging role in which you will provide clear leadership and motivation for a multifunctional operations team of around 550. In doing so, you will be making a significant contribution to the achievement of key business goals, including security, cost, quality, inventory and delivery commitments. The integration of manufacturing, procurement and quality roles will also be a major focus of your broad and influential remit.

To create an organisational structure which is lean and agile, while also being highly effective, you must have substantial leadership experience gained within a technically complex manufacturing environment. This should include the successful introduction of performance enhancing techniques, such as six sigma, and the management of a capital budget of around £2m. The ability to influence at the highest level and work across both functions and international boundaries will also be essential, as will an understanding of how emerging technologies and political and economic factors impact on the business.
