The Government Economic Service (GES) is the UK’s largest employer of professional economists, with over 1000 economists based in 30 government departments and agencies. We offer a Fast Stream development programme with rapid promotion, on merit, for economists who want to work at the heart of government policy making. Although economists are full and active members of departments and agencies, they are also members of the GES. This enables GES members to move between departments, providing them with a breadth of subject knowledge and experience unrivalled elsewhere.
