Welfare to Work, London – Up to £85,000

On 5th October 2009, Serco began operation of welfare-to-work contracts in Greater Manchester, the West Midlands and North, Mid and South East Wales. Our model for delivering employment services is unique. We have brought together networks of local public, private and voluntary sector providers to deliver services for our unemployed clients. Through these networks, we enable people to find jobs as quickly as possible. We also target resources on those individuals who are furthest from the labour market. Within the resources available for Flexible New Deal, we have a model that can deliver a step change in performance.

Serco is now looking to recruit an outstanding individual to join our Welfare to Work Development Team and help achieve our ambitious growth strategy. Reporting directly to the Development Director, you will be responsible for winning contracts to extend our services to assist more long-term benefit claimants into sustainable employment. There are over 5 million people on workless benefits in the UK. The vast majority want to work and could work if given the right support.

The ideal candidate will have: • a demonstrable ability to design, progress and present solutions to meet complex social needs; • a proven track record of winning multifaceted bids; • experience of leading high performing teams; • experience of the Welfare to Work sector or a related area; • the ability to influence a diverse range of senior stakeholders; • a sound knowledge of relevant procurement, finance and human resources processes; • a degree or equivalent.
