About the role

Joining a small team of 10 specialists, it will be down to you to shape the entire global operating platform for Barclaycard. Liaising closely with senior stakeholders, including our Customer Experience Directors, you’ll devise new ways to resolve the major strategic issues we face as a business. That will mean applying your intellectual rigour and outstanding communication skills to influence decisions and take us from strategy to implementation within your area of focus. We’ll expect your perspective to be informed by robust analysis of the latest industry trends, our mission as a business, and our Business Unit agendas. Your focus should always be on aligning our operational objectives to our long-term vision and commitment to striking the right balance between operational costs and a differentiated customer experience. We’ll look to you to provide leadership and guidance on operational excellence, and to empower colleagues by encouraging ownership, measured risk taking, initiative and challenge of the status quo.

About you

This role demands experience of solving global strategic issues and a background in commercial and financial management, including P&L accounting. We’re looking for someone who can set the agenda when it comes to our strategic technical architecture and payment innovations, and who has a detailed knowledge of audit and operational risk. You have the confidence and credibility to challenge conventional thinking at the most senior levels, and you know how to bring key decision makers round to your way of thinking. Outstanding problem solving and stakeholder management skills are therefore an absolute must. It could be that you’re already working in a consultancy, implementing strategies and influencing people from the top down. And wherever you are now, your commercial, financial and business acumen will be second to none.
