This is a tremendous opportunity for a capable, technically-minded security professional to join a prestigious services business, reporting directly to the Head of Risk Management. The initial focus of the role will be to drive through the full adoption of the PCI DSS standards, taking ownership of the compliance strategy and overseeing the implementation of the processes, technology and training required to achieve certification in 2010.

As Information Security Officer, you will also be responsible for identifying, managing and reporting on any risks to the business associated with current and proposed information handling and storage procedures and technologies. You should be able to identify potential loopholes and ensure the means exist to monitor non-compliance or suspicious activity, detecting and reporting potential breaches of security policy.

Responsibilities include;

• Ensuring the successful achievement, and ongoing maintenance, of PCI DSS certification.

• The identification, evaluation and articulation of strategies to minimise risk in information processing and storage.

• Generating awareness at all levels within the company, and supplier base, of the requirements and implications of security compliance

• To evaluate emerging technologies and their possible impact on security policy.

• To work closely with the IT function to ensure all information systems comply with the security policy and present minimal risk to the business.

The ideal candidate will;

• Have considerable experience of designing and leading projects for the adoption of PCI DSS standards.

• Have a detailed technical understanding of payment protection technologies, the Data Protection Act, and how the IT infrastructure elements contribute in the processing of information.

• Command credibility and influence at board level when presenting plans and progress reports

• Be an effective communicator, through the written and spoken word.

• Have worked in a security compliance role for at least 5 years.
