Job Role

As Associate in this busy highly regarded team you will support the partners in providing first rate client service on a range of contentious major commercial disputes for key clients of the firm.

• Responsibilities will include all apsects of case management (statements, instructions to counsel, trial preparation, engaging with experts) and plenty of exposure to clients.

• You will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of cases and to work pro-actively to drive them forward. On some matters you will be the lead Eversheds lawwer and be expected to work with minimal partner supervision.

• You will be expected to play a key role in budgeting and managing financial performance on cases that you are working on and assist the team grow its profile internally and externally through focussed business development activities, including in particular helping to make the most of the firms substantial client base.

• You will also play a key role in mentoring and acting as a role model for more junior members of the team.

The Candidate

• You will have worked for a recognised City litigation practice with good general experience of commercial litigation. In addition, you will be used to playing the Lead Associate role on complex high value litigation and can step into the partners’ shoes when required. Evidence of plenty of direct exposure to clients / counsel / experts will be required.

• Experience of mediation and arbitration as well as High Court litigation is essential and some evidence of exposure to international disputes will be expected.

• Some exposure to business development activities and a good understanding of how to win work is expected. A network of contacts will be assumed although at this level there is obviously no expectation that you will bring work with you.

• To be successful, you must be able to operate at a fast pace in a vibrant open plan environment. You will use your strong communication skills to build effective relationships with existing and new clients, introducing clients to other teams or practice groups.
