Job Role

You will support the partners in this busy highly regarded team with major commercial disputes for key clients of the firm. We are looking for an individual who is keen to develop their own work streams and is keen to take on the challenge of running a number of arbitrations and developing their profile. This would be done internally and with our current and potential clients, as well as the profile of Eversheds International Arbitration Group.

• You will provide first rate client service on a range of international arbitrations for the Firm’s financial services, corporate and commercial clients. Managing all aspects of your cases you will be proactive in team management (strategy, statements, instructions to counsel, trial preparation, engaging with experts) with plenty of exposure to clients.

• Leading on matters with minimal partner supervision, you will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of cases and to work proactively to drive them forward, including budgeting and managing financial performance.

• You will assist the team in growing its profile internally and externally through focused business development activities.

The Candidate

We are looking for a strong performer who can demonstrate energy and excellent interpersonal skills. You will have worked for a recognised international arbitration practice with good experience of and expertise in financial services/banking, corporate and commercial arbitration and private international law and preferably some experience of public international law/BITs.

• Significant evidence of direct exposure to clients/counsel/experts will be need to be demonstrated.

• Ideally you will be fluent in at least one European language and have experience of practicing overseas.

• You will have experience of acting as the Lead Associate on complex high value arbitration and can step into the partners’ shoes when required.

• Experience of mediation is desirable as is experience of general litigation.

• Some exposure to business development activities and a good understanding of how to win work is expected. You should have some strong contacts though it is not expected that you will bringing work with you.

• To be successful, you must be able to operate at a fast pace in a vibrant open plan environment. You will use your strong communication skills to build effective relationships with existing and new clients, introducing clients to other teams or practice groups.
