Eversheds has the UK’s leading environmental and health and safety defence team. We have considerable experience in advising clients in relation to prosecutions brought by the Health & Safety Executive and the Police following serious and fatal workplace accidents, and the Environment Agency and Local Authorities following pollution and emission incidents. Since the implementation of the Corporate Manslaughter Act in April 2008 we are already advising clients in over 30 different Police-led corporate manslaughter investigations.

Job Role

We are looking for a Newly Qualified Solicitor or Solicitor with an interest in health and safety to join our leading team. The successful candidate will join a team of 6 specialist lawyers and will be involved in working nationally and, potentially, internationally. Key areas of work will include health and safety, environmental, trading standards, road transport.

The Candidate

This is a contentious position and the ideal candidate will have previously demonstrated their skills in advocacy, ideally in the Magistrates, Crown Courts or similar Tribunals. They will also have good experience of criminal and regulatory cases.

Previous experience should ideally include:

• Providing pragmatic commercial, as well as legal, advice to commercial clients

• Liaising with regulators

• Providing 24/7 management crisis cover.

• The successful candidate will possess strong technical abilities and good academic qualifications. A team player, they will be client focused and able to demonstrate strong communication skills.

• They will have a strong practical approach to their workload. Whilst remaining focused on time and financial target.
