GROUP OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

This is a superb opportunity for a highly experienced general manager and manufacturing professional who is up to date with lean manufacturing skills and techniques and has the ability to lead a significant business transformation programme. The client is a multi-site business c£150 million turnover, c1,300 employees operating across 8 sites each with their own general management teams. It manufactures a broad product range, batch based and in a highly competitive marketplace in which the demands of the customer for quality, price performance and delivery are exacting. The company is looking to achieve significant performance improvements through the implementation of a world-class approach incorporating lean principles, business rationalisation and culture change. This is to be achieved in the context of a unionised environment and through distinct general management teams each with their own P&L accountability.

A candidate of significant experience and gravitas is required. You are likely to be a graduate mechanical engineer, possibly with an MBA and an impressive career which has been developed in world-class manufacturing groups. You will certainly need to have led a significant operation and also had general management experience with full P&L accountability and you must be able to demonstrate real success in delivering business change. Reporting is to the Group Managing Director and with accountability for the 8 sites this is an excellent time to be joining this forward thinking group which has a positive and significant outlook. Location is to some extent flexible as there is significant UK travel and the benefits are designed to attract the best talent available.
