Who we are
We help organisations the world over measure their financial performance and improve the way they work. Our clients range from public and private companies to governments and charities. And we’re ambitious to grow both our traditional areas of strength and those we’re fast expanding into. If you’re serious about a career in business, we don’t believe anyone else could give you a better start. And we’re proud to say that students agree, voting us number one in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers survey for the last six years in a row.
Assurance
Our Assurance practice analyses every aspect of clients’ activities, then advises them on whether what they’re doing is sustainable, profitable and legal. Our work in auditing client accounts is perhaps what we’re best known for. It’s certainly the foundation of our business and we’re at the leading edge of best practice.
What you’d do
Our Assurance practice analyses every aspect of clients’ activities, then advises them on whether what they’re doing is sustainable, profitable and legal. Our work in auditing client accounts is perhaps what we’re best known for. It’s certainly the foundation of our business and we’re at the leading edge of best practice. We audit more of the FTSE 100 than any other firm, as well as thousands of other organisations, tailoring our approach to their size and activities. And now that checks, balances, controls, and governance procedures are more important than ever, our input has never been more vital You will follow the generalist training route in:
Assurance: This is where most graduates join us and it’s certainly where you’ll benefit from arguably the best general business training going.Or you can work in one of our specialist Assurance teams:
Public Services: You’d help make sure public money is being spent effectively – getting exposure to a surprising variety of work in the process.
Risk Assurance Services: Whatever threats they might face – from online fraud to flooding – organisations need plans in place to deal with them. You’d help develop those plans.
Transaction Services: Here we support clients on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), advising throughout the deal cycle. You’d start out in financial audit, gaining the skills you’ll need to analyse and advise on M&A deals.
Pensions Audit: Constant change and intense press coverage makes this a fascinating, high-profile area to work in. You’d help pensions trustees review their strategies and achieve the best benefits for their members.
Your training and development:
Our people make us stand out as a firm. So we choose the best and invest heavily in them. Our exceptional level of encouragement, opportunity and support includes:
Our graduate training programme helps you gain breadth as well as depth of knowledge and build a portfolio of valuable, transferable skills.Support to gain a professional qualification – usually the ACA but this varies considerably by business area.
Increased responsibility as soon as you qualify, plus a pay rise to go with it.
Movement throughout the firm – you’ll work in different teams and offices, experience different clients and projects; try out new roles and even sample other business areas. It will all help you develop along a path that fits your goals as well as the ever-changing needs of our business.
What makes us different
We tackle burning business issues and the most complex commercial challenges. Our ideas boost the performance of every type of organisation on every kind of level. And right across our firm, outstanding people collaborate with and learn from each other. That’s why we’re such a stimulating place for graduates with spark and initiative to develop their careers.
Who we look for
We’re after the very best. That means a strong mix of intellect and employability skills. You must have:
a 2:1 or above in any degree discipline
at least a 300 UCAS tariff or equivalent
Key employability skills include:
Flexibility – to deal positively with changing priorities and workloads
Curiosity – to help you learn, share and innovate
Teamworking skills – so you can contribute to and drive our success
Courage and integrity – to help you take on challenges and do the right thing by your clients and colleagues
Commercial awareness – so you’re always up to speed with the latest business thinking and trends
Great communication skills – to help you listen, persuade and put your point across
