A principal duty is to ensure that the financial strategies support the broader corporate aims of the business, although this itself often spells conflict.
Finance Directors play a pivotal role in reporting to shareholders, communicating with the City if the company is Stock Market listed, and working with third party accountants compiling Annual Reports and profit and loss accounts. The Finance Director will be heavily involved in Merger and Acquisition and company re-structuring activities.
